What’s up, world?! It’s ya girl, Betts/Betty/BA/Noshoes, etc, live from Cape Town, South Africa. Just a mere 27 days late. I’ve been planning to blog weekly since the day I got here 3ish weeks ago, but I’ve been so caught up in this beautiful city and, of course my coursework @mom, that I just haven’t had the time (also the wifi in my guest house is arse, and maybe it’s just a #firstworldproblem, but it’s gotten to the point where it takes 20 minutes to load ONE SNAP STORY).
Anyways, from here on out, I solemnly swear to blog as often as physically, mentally, and emotionally possible. I have abundant updates, soliloquies, and comedic stories to blog. Some will tear at your heart strings, others will make you cringe, and most will make you cry streaming tears of laughter. But for now, I hope a play-by-play of my dayz will suffice:
What do I do?
My days occur as such:
- Alarm goes off at 8:47 am.
- Snooze.
- Realize I’ve already snoozed 3 times. It’s now 9:05 and the bus picks us up in 10 minutes.
- Go to the bathroom, brush teeth, get dressed. Now it’s 9:17
- The bus is here. Amanda and/or Sophia knock on my door loudly. “THE BUS IS HERE”
- Xolani (one of our program directors) also knocks on my door. “BETTY LET’S GO THE BUS IS LEAVING.”
- Somberly enter the bus. Yawning and annoyed.
- Get to building where class is held. RUN TO ELEVATOR before other bus of students gets there.
- RUN TO SNAG A GOOD SEAT IN THE CLASSROOM
- *our classroom is horribly snug and I need a seat from which I can stand and get to the door if I need to pee
- Go to the lil coffee bar near classroom and order a mocha latte with triple shot of espresso (bc they dont know how to make iced coffee and dunks isnt here yet 😦 ) and usually a slice of cake bc im too dumb and lazy to make myself toast before we leave
- CRUSH CLASS FOR 3 HOURS
- Go home and sleep and eat
- Activity
- Watch Bachelorette when we’re lucky
- Eat
- Often I order McDonald’s or pizza or nutella milkshakes from one of the many DOPE delivery companies that Cape Town has to offer.
- Sleep
- Repeat
Of course each day is its own unique occurrence, but this is the nutshell of my life in Cape Town.
Ta ta for now,
Betts
